Sponsor/Godparent requirements
Baptism sponsors (Godparents) must meet certain requirements and complete a sponsor form and have it signed and sealed by a priest from their parish. In order to be permitted to take on the function of sponsor/Godparent, you must:
be at least 16 years of age
be a Catholic who has been Confirmed and leads a life in keeping with the teachings of the Church
not be bound by any Canonical penalty
not be the mother or father of the one to be Baptized
